You can't be in Bay Ridge and not come back to this place. While it was Hinches for decades. Stewart's kept all of everything that I remember. Food is still top notch. Service was impeccable. And to see Barbara as I was visiting was a blessing. 51 years she's been a staple to this place. While I don't live in Brooklyn anymore, it was nice to be able to see her.....
Took myself out to lunch here. Love the old diner feel. Food was wonderful, portions were fantastic. My root beer was flat, however. My server was kind enough to remove it from the bill. Atmosphere could use a boost to really make it more charming…music for starters. There was no music at all. Just loud chatter and ambient sounds from behind the counter. Should be playing old records from the 50’s. The TV was set to some show selling gold coins that no one was watching. Maybe put on something better? Or attach a dvd player and have on old movies or something? Overall 4/5. I’d go again.
Lovely experience at Stewart's with my niece. The diner looks small on the outside but it's quite spacious inside. The décor is lovely and makes you feel like you stepped back in the 1950's. The space is immaculate and very clean. Servers and staff members were courteous and polite. Last but not least, the food was spectacular. They managed to make a grilled cheese sandwich taste divine, and the Southwest burger was great and very flavorful. My niece took one bite of it and her eyes got wide saying "it's delicious!". Thank you for a wonderful experience and I highly recommend Stewart's for an outing with friends, family, a date, or even alone!
I've been here twice and I've been impressed with the level of service and cleanliness. I love sitting at the bar and watching everyone cook and prepare food. The menu is impressively large with a great selection of breakfast classics, desserts and standard diner fare. The food is really good and the staff definitely pay attention to your needs.
This location used to be Hinsch's, a classic Bay Ridge diner that closed down a few years ago after existing for decades. I went there for ice cream with my family. The ice cream tasted like homemade and was delicious. It was served in one of those metal serving dishes. Everything about this restaurant made me reminisce about the old days. The place was lovingly restored with many details that the original diners had decades ago. There were many large photos hanging along the walls showing how Bay Ridge looked long ago. There was even an article on the wall describing the Stewart's Story. This place is a welcome addition to Bay Ridge in an area that is overrun with modern-day food franchises. This restaurant is equally good for those who want be served a full meal or are simply paying a visit to enjoy their ice cream. Once you walk away from the reality of what 5th Avenue has become today and into this establishment, you will be transported into another time period where the stress will just melt away as you reminisce about a more innocent time period.
Great discovery while we were in Brooklyn for a long weekend! Extremely fast, courteous service, great prices and amazing diner food; I particularly enjoyed their sausage choice, as well as their granola and Greek yogurt. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.
The food was amazing! Best pastrami reuben sandwich! I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. The buger Is huge! And the lime Rickey old fashioned soda was so flavorful.
I went here today for the first time. My friend brought me. I was impressed by the sheer amount of choices in the menu. The food that I ordered, which you can see in the picture was all pretty good. Overall, I would return to try the other menu items, and thus I’d recommend checking this place out.
